Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Student Events Team and Center for American Indian Affairs announced that Christian Parrish Takes the Gun, an Apsáalooke rapper and dancer known professionally as Supaman, will discuss Native American issues through looping art and rap Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. in the University’s Centennial Student Union Ballroom.
The event, free and open to the public, will involve cultural discussions while seeking to help its audience understand the issues faced by Native American students in universities across the country.
According to the University’s Student Events Team, Supaman is an MTV award-winning artist and the top native hip-hop artist and speaker in the United States. He has dedicated his life to empowering youth and educating listeners with a message of positivity through music and culture. More information about Supaman is available on Facebook.

Student Events Team is a student-led organization that produces fun, interactive, educational events where students make lifelong memories and celebrate their Maverick pride. If students are interested in joining the team, the Student Events Team meets every Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Centennial Student Union, Room 245.
American Indian Affairs is a program under Institutional Diversity that is located in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Its mission is to provide American Indian students of all tribal backgrounds at Minnesota State Mankato with support services during their college careers. American Indian Affairs provides opportunities for students and works towards the recruitment and retention of American Indian students. The goal of the program is to create an inclusive and supportive community on campus, a “home away from home.”
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 14,712 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 30 colleges and seven universities.
