The SBU Bearcats had 14 runs on 13 hits and downed the Truman Baseball team 14-1 in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs return to action on Friday opening up a four-game series with Saginaw Valley (Mich.) State.
The Bearcats scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings before breaking the game open with a five-run fifth. A double by Noah Tucker brought home two and a three-run homer from catcher Hunter Hisky was the biggest blow of the game.
The Bulldogs got their run in the ninth after Josh Abegg hit a one-out double and Charlie Kreh doubled down the left field line.
Those were two of Truman's three hits on the game with the first coming by Jake Schneider with one out in the eighth. It was an infield single.
Elias Czech was the winner going six innings without allowing a hit and fanning nine Bulldogs.
