The majority of students accepted to Kennesaw State University are choosing KSU as their school to attend, according to data from U.S. News & World Report.

The U.S. News study determined that Kennesaw State has one of the nation’s highest admissions yield rates, meaning the percentage of admitted students who enroll. Of 8,847 accepted students, 5,347 enrolled at Kennesaw State in fall 2016 for a yield of 60.4 percent, ranking KSU 13th nationally and No. 1 in Georgia.

“This reaffirms that Kennesaw State University has become the first choice for many students,” Kennesaw State President Sam Olens said. “More and more students want to come to KSU because of the high quality of education, at an affordable price, that they receive here. The energy at this University is palpable, and the community clearly is engaged with Kennesaw State and excited about what we are doing.”

The average yield among national universities was 32 percent. The institutions ranked ahead of Kennesaw State include Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In addition to the ranking, Kennesaw State is implementing a competitive admissions model beginning with applications for fall 2018. The fixed-seat enrollment model utilizes a formula to calculate an applicant’s highest SAT scores and high school grade point average to determine eligibility. The intent is to continue to attract high-achieving students while enabling the University to manage enrollment growth and facilitate students’ timely degree progressions.

“We are getting the attention of high-ability students who want the offerings of a large university along with the opportunities that being in metro Atlanta provides,” Olens said. “While students who meet the University’s minimum requirements no longer are guaranteed admission, we are better able to serve the students who are here so that they can get the classes and services they need to graduate on time.”
