• The Eastern Illinois baseball team will travel to Cookeville, Tennessee this weekend to face OVC leader Tennessee Tech in a three-game series this weekend. TTU enters the weekend at 20-7 overall and a perfect 9-0 in the conference, having swept UT Martin, SIUE and Austin Peay earlier this season. TTU entered the week ranked first nationally in runs (234) and hits (318).


• Matt Albert enters this weekend's series at Tennessee Tech with an 11-game on-base streak. In that span, Albert has collected 10 hits, including a pair of doubles and five home runs. He as also recorded 22 RBIs and scored 10 runs in the last 11 contests. He currently ranks tied for third in the conference in home runs (8) and tied for sixth in RBIs (29) this season.


• Like Albert, Logan Beaman has reached base successfully in the past 11 games. Beaman is batting .333 (12-for-36) with three doubles, four RBIs, 13 runs scored and 12 walks during his current streak.


• Jimmy Govern and Dougie Parks have been the hottest hitters in the EIU lineup since the Panthers' home opener against Murray State last weekend. During the five-game home stand, Govern batted a team-high .600 (9-for-15) with one double, one triple, three RBIs and seven runs scored. Parks finished not far behind with a .524 average (11-for-21) with two triples, one home run, seven RBIs and six runs scored. Parks enters the weekend with a five-game hitting streak while Govern has recorded a hit in four-straight games.


• Chase Thurston picked up his first win of the season in Wednesday's contest against Southern Illinois. The senior right-handed pitcher allowed just two runs on six hits in 6.0 innings of work. The start marked the 68th career appearance for Thurston as he now moves into a tie for 10th all-time in career appearances at EIU.


• Jake Haberer will get the ball to start for the Panthers in Friday night's game. Haberer will be making his eighth appearance and third start of the season. Michael McCormick is in line to start during game two of the series on Saturday. McCormick will make his seven appearance and start of the season. At this time, Eastern Illinois has not named a starter for the series finale on Sunday.


• Eastern Illinois is playing its 111th season of intercollegiate baseball. EIU has an all-time record of 1,736 wins and 1,534 losses.  Head Coach Jason Anderson is in his 2nd season as the Panthers skipper after being hired to take on the role in the summer of 2015. Anderson picked up the first win of his coaching career with a 10-8 victory over No. 12 Arkansas in 12 innings on March 5, 2016.
