The University of South Dakota Social Work Master’s program is partnering with Rutgers University Center for American Women in Politics to bring Ready to Run SD to the state.

The program arms women with the knowledge to run for elective office, position themselves for appointive office, work on campaigns or get involved in public life in other ways.

“This is a non-partisan training program designed to empower women to participate more fully in government,” says director Brooke Blaalid.

The Ready to Run SD conference will be held April 13 and 14, at the Downtown Holiday Inn City Centre in Sioux Falls.

The keynote speaker at the event will be Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, president of Augustana University. Herseth Sandlin was the first woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in South Dakota.

Interactive presentations include topics like how to develop a campaign plan, fundraising, positioning for office and other volunteer opportunities.

Early bird registration is $75 through March 30. Registration after March 30 is $150.
