Truman Splits a Doubleheader in Music City Invitational_[트루먼주립대]Truman State University

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - In its second day of play in the Music City Invitational, the Truman softball team defeated Ohio Dominican 3-1, but lost to the host school, Trevecca Nazarene, 8-5. The Bulldogs are now 3-4 on the season while the Panthers fell to 1-3 and the Trojans are 3-4 as well.

In the first game against Ohio Domincan, Truman scored all three of its runs in the first inning. That frame, Lex Van Nostrand singled in Christa Reisinger (pictured) with a bunt single and freshman, Alyssa Rivera, brought in both Van Nostrand and Ashley Murphy with another single. The Purple and White's six hits came from five different players including two by the designated player, Kadie Orenstein, in the seven spot.

In the circle, Lauren Dale (2-0) was brilliant with a bend, but not break attitude all day. Dale gave up just one run in the third with nine hits allowed, one walk and four strikeouts. The Knox City, Mo. native improved to 6-1 for her career with an ERA of 3.40 and has given up just two earned runs in 15 innings pitched for her last two outings.

In the nightcap, Trevecca Nazarene was ahead 8-1 after four innings before Truman scored four in the final three innings to cut the deficit to three, 8-5. Nicolette Simpson (1-2) was handed the loss after she went 2.1 innings and gave up four earned runs on five hits with one free pass and one punchout. In relief, Alyssa Hajduk threw the final 3.2 frames and gave up four earned on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Four different Bulldogs registered a hit including three from Reisinger in the leadoff spot and two more by Orenstein in the seven spot again. For the offense, Van Nostrand hit her first home run of the year, a solo shot to left, Reisinger crossed home plate on a wild pitch and Haley Wells crushed a pinch-hit two-run blast to left, her first round-tripper of the season.

Next up, Truman will stay in Hendersonville to face Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
