VIEILLEDENT, TISSERAND NAMED SRIXON/CLEVELAND GOLF ALL-AMERICA SCHOLARS

Two members of the UMKC men’s golf program – Thibault Vieilledent (Cannes, France) and Hubert Tisserand (Lyon, France) – have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday. It is the second-straight year that Vieilledent has been honored by the GCAA for his success in the classroom, while it is the first award of its kind for Tisserand.
“I want to thank both Thibault and Hubert for the way in which they have represented our program,” head coach J.W. VanDenBorn shared. “These awards embody everything that we are about here at UMKC. Their contributions have helped us shape a strong culture. The success in the classroom, as well as on the course, sets a great example for those in our program and those who will follow. I could not be more proud.”
Vieilledent recorded a 75.42 scoring average during the 2016-17 season with a low round of 69 at UMKC’s Bill Ross Intercollegiate to help him finish in tie for 23rd overall at the tournament. Tisserand carded a low round of 69 at three different tournaments to finish his senior season with a 74.5 scoring average over 30 rounds with one top-10 finish.
In his four years at UMKC, Vieilledent carried a 3.837 GPA in the classroom and graduated in May with his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Tisserand followed in his teammates’ footsteps, posting a cumulative GPA of 3.718.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
